Webs, initially known as Freewebs, was founded in 2001 as a freemium, static site-only web hosting service. It was established by brothers Haroon and Zeki Mokhtarzada during their last year at the University of Maryland, College Park.

Webs grew rapidly, recording 18 million unique visitors a month by April 2007. In 2011, Vistaprint acquired Webs for $117.5 million. Webs offers a user-friendly platform with over 450 pre-designed templates covering various industries, a drag and drop interface, and e-commerce tools.

However, it limits the extent of HTML and CSS customization. Webs planned to shut down free services by June 30, 2021, with all premium customers migrated to Vistaprint. The final shutdown of Webs.com was scheduled for August 31, 2023. Webs is tagged under web hosting.
