Olay, originally known as Oil of Olay, was created in 1952 by South African chemist Graham Wulff as a gift for his wife. It's now owned by Procter & Gamble and is one of the most well-recognized cosmetic brands globally.
Olay's first product was Beauty Fluid. Over the years, the brand has expanded its product line to include a wide range of skincare items like moisturizers, serums, cleansers, and more. Key ingredients in their products include retinyl propionate, glycerin, niacinamide, sunscreen, and peptides.
Olay is particularly known for its innovation in using niacinamide and peptides in skincare. In 2011, Olay ranked 1st among the top 50 cosmetic brands by Brand Finance and continues to maintain a high position. The brand has seen significant growth, especially in the Chinese market, and is praised for its personalized product recommendations through its Olay Skin Advisor tool.
However, Olay faces competition from natural skin care products and does not currently cater to the male skincare market.
