Coastal Scents, founded by Reto Kramer, started by selling bath bombs and DIY ingredient kits. Around 2010, the brand, then co-managed by Kramer and his wife Dorothy, shifted focus to makeup.

Known for affordable beauty products, they manufactured in the U.S. and employed women in Ghana. Coastal Scents was known for single eyeshadow pans, brushes, and palettes.

Despite success, the brand closed in 2021 due to the founders' divorce. The brand reappeared later, selling products but not shipping to the U.S. The new ownership remains unclear.
